The original Rocky movie came out in 1976 and starred Sylvestor Stallone who also wrote the screenplay. It was created for under $1 million and turned into a sleeper hit with global revenues of $225 million.

The movie became the top grossing movie of 1976. That season it won three Oscars including one for Best Picture. Additionally, it received critical praise from the media and introduced Stallone to a major star.

The first Rocky movie tells the story of Rocky Balboa who’s an but sort hearted debt collector to get a Philadelphia loan shark. Through a stroke of fortune, Rocky found himself having a shot in the world heavyweight championships once the scheduled competition broke his hand.

The movie’s cast also includes Talia Shire as Adrian, Burt Young as Adrian’s brother and Rocky’s friend Paulie, Burgess Meredith as Rocky’s coach Mickey Goldmill, and eventually Carl Weathers as the present champion Apollo Creed.

It is not known but on account of the low budget of this film, a variety of Stallone’s family members played small roles. Stallone’s father played the particular individual who laps the bell to signal the start and finish of a round; his brother Frank played a road corner singer, along with his first wife Sasha functioned as the set photographer.

When this project was given to the studios, they liked the concept but seen it as a good car for a recognized male star such as Robert Redford, Ryan O’Neil, of James Caan. Stallone appealed into the studios to be provided the chance to star in the movie. He was quoted later as having believed he would have never forgiven himself if the movie became a hit in the starring role.

Deciding who to play the role of Adrian has been a little challenging. Originally the function has been set with Carrie Snodgress however a money dispute changed this. Susan Sarandon was auditioned however she was deemed too quite for its function. Following Talia Shire read for the role, she was signed and the rest is history.

The original movie went on to spur five more sequels during the next thirty years such as Rocky II, III, IV, V, and Rocky Balboa. For this day the original movie remains a wonderful reputation as a classic.11
